Its history

An old mill converted into a guest house

The Follaine Mill dates from the mid-15th century. It was part of the Follaine fiefdom, which included the castle overlooking it and the adjoining farm buildings.

It belonged to Foulque Guidas, captain of the Château d’Amboise, and was under the jurisdiction of the Collegiate Church of Loches.

The last owner before the French Revolution was the Marquis de Lafayette, from whom the mill was confiscated in 1796 and sold as national property.

Several generations of millers worked there until 1968, when the Roland couple ceased operations. It was sold in 1978 and underwent a high-quality restoration, first as a private residence, then as a guesthouse. It still has its wheel and millstone drive mechanism, beautifully displayed in the living room where breakfast is served.
